Europe’s Garden is one of the several names of the gorgeous Ischia.
Ischia is considered as one of the most famous seaside and touristic spa centre in Italy and in the world. The island is well-known for its immaculate beauty and for its warm climate.
Its thermal water and its modern tourist facilities attract tourists from all over the world. In fact, you can find over 400 hotels, bed and breakfasts, hostels and pensions in the island.
Most of you might remember Ischia because of the fact that several popular features were filmed there. Needless to say, the dreamy landscape massively contributed to the success of these films: Cleopatra (1963), the talented Mr. Ripley (1999) which is a remake of Le Plein Soleil (1960) with Alain Delon.
Ischia is mainly a volcanic island and effusive eruptions made their part in creating bays, coasts, beaches and marvelous hills covered by pine trees and chestnut forests that gave the island the name Green Island.
Recently, it has been discussed the possibility of the opening of a casino in the island in order to make tourists’ stay even more exciting and thrilling.
Among all the attractions, Castello Aragonese is definitely the most interesting. The Castle was built by Hiero I,a tyrant from the Sicilian region of Syracuse. The castle got its name thanks to the tenancy of the Aragonese Royal Family who created the structure of the Castle as seen today. In the past the building has been used as a shelter for 2,000 inhabitants and as a prison in times of conflict.
